ISOP Travel Grant for WOC2016 Awarded
ISOP were pleased to award a travel grant for this years' World Ophthalmology Congress (WOC) in Guadalajara, Mexico. This travel grant was awarded to Veronica Castillo Benitez (pictured below), a pathology-focused attendee. Veronica was born in Asuncion, Paraguay. She graduated as Valedictorian (Gold Medal) from the Faculty of Medical Sciences of the National University of Asuncion. Veronica is now a Third Year Resident of the Ophthalmology Department at the Hospital de Clinicas, and has been accepted to continue her studies as a Fellow in Retina and Vitreous at University.
This is the first year the ISOP has awarded a travel grant to the WOC and future ISOP-WOC travel grants are planned.

9th International Symposium of Ophthalmology & ISOP Faculty Meeting
Guangzhou, China. Nov 9-11, 2013
The International Society of Ophthalmic Pathology (ISOP) was cordially invited to Guangzhou, China, earlier this month as one of the supporting organizations
of the 9th International Symposium of Ophthalmology (ISO).
While Beijing and Shanghai are commonly known as the political and financial centres of China, Guangzhou is the leading city in China for international trade and commerce. Hosted by the Zhongshan Ophthalmic Centre (ZOC) and the State Key Laboratory of Ophthalmology (SKLO) of Sun Yat-Sen University, the leading eye centre in China for 5 year in a row, the 9th ISO was held in conjunction with the 30th anniversary celebration of the ZOC.
The 9th ISO brought together over 2,000 delegates from more than 50 countries with over 400 excellent speakers from all over the world. As a supporting organisation, the ISOP organised a 90-minute symposium on the platform provided by the 9th ISO.
A special thank you to the local organisers and speakersfor a wonderful meeting.

On behalf of Geeta and myself, I would like to thank you very much for your contributions to and participation in the first ISOP Eye Pathology Course held in Hyderabad last week. Thank you also Arun Singh for allowing us to build this course into the APAO programme.
The next course will be at the ISOO and there will be an ISOP session at the WOC in 2014.
